Hope in the slums of Thailand

ThailandIn hopes of finding a job and better living conditions for their family, Kookum and his wife,
Ann, emigrated from Laos to Chiang Mai about seven years ago. They settled in a slum area
with their three children. Kookum and Ann work on different shifts to survive and care for
their children and they still don’t earn enough money to move out of the slums. On top of that,
Kookum’s undocumented status makes life even more difficult without government assistance.
PSome of our local volunteers began serving in the slum. They were able to support Kookum and
his family with some basic needs including food from the Food Pak. Now Kokum’s young family is able to receive the nutrition that their bodies need to grow well.

65,746 meals were distributed in Thailand during the fourth quarter of 2014.
