Hope in San Antonio

Joa and his daughter

Receiving the Food Pak

Joe and Holly live in San Antonio, Texas with their little girl. Though they live on the affluent north side of the city, Joe recently lost his job and has been unable to find work for some
time now. Many young families split up when they succumb to the economic and social pressures that accompany the difficulties of poverty, but Joe and Holly have chosen to remain together, no matter what. However, the problems have not gone away. A few months ago they were buying food at a local grocery store when one of our local volunteers and her daughter noticed them. Seeing the baby and noticing the small amounts of food that they were able to afford, she asked them if they would be interested in receiving a Food Pak. Joe and Holly were grateful and said  they would be interested.
A few days later, Maria and another friend arrived at Joe and Holly’s home with a Food Pak. They were able to hear their story and tend to their needs. They agreed to come once a week to check on the young family, pray with them and bring another Food Pak.

Joe and Holly are still looking for new jobs, but the burdens they face are a little lighter knowing they have new friends who care for them. This unlikely friendship began by the offer of a
Food Pak. Maria said, “I am very grateful that the USANA True Health Foundation is able to provide these Food Paks through CHF. With all of the financial crises that families like Joe and Holly are going through, the ability to help them is much appreciated.

48,888 meals were distributed in the South West during the first quarter of 2013.

Remember, 100 percent of all donations made to the USANA True Health Foundation ALWAYS go toward changing lives across the world.
